Meet Katie Welham
Katie Welham is an emerging artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba (Treaty 1). She recently graduated from the University of Winnipeg’s Honours Acting Program, where she performed in shows such as The Secret in the Wings, Stupid Fucking Bird, and Oh, The Humanity and Other Good Intentions. She was a member of Actor’s Studio for two seasons, performing in The Wolves and Women. She has performed in The Winnipeg Fringe Festival in Women (Actor’s Studio), A Taste of Blood in the Mouth (Cerridwen Productions), and CliqYou (Here’s Hoping Theatre Co.). Other selected credits include The Last Wife (upcoming; RMTC), Billy Elliot: The Musical (RMTC), Guys and Dolls (WSO/Rainbow Stage), and A Chorus Line (WSO/Rainbow Stage). She is also a recipient of Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre’s Jean Murray-Moray Sinclair Scholarship.

My Story
Actor’s Studio was a program I first learned about in university, and since I had heard nothing but good things about Cairn and her teaching, I decided to try it. I am so glad that I did! Cairn is an encouraging, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable instructor who clearly wants the best for all of her students. She taught me the importance of being “open to being wounded”, which means that you have to be receptive to whatever comes at you in a scene, even if it makes you nervous. Her absolute faith in me as an actor gave me the confidence I needed to go for what I wanted. I will always be grateful to Cairn and Actor’s Studio!
